Condemn the layoffs and their implementation by the Municipality of Árborg.
At the end of last April, a number of employees received termination letters from the Árborg Municipality in a coldly impersonal manner. The manner in which the layoffs were handled varied. In some cases, representatives went into facilities and carried out the layoffs without having met the individuals beforehand. The Báran trade union and the Foss trade union in public service strongly protest the implementation of layoffs of employees by the Árborg municipality. Residents are very upset, and it is unclear how many people will end up losing their jobs. Municipalities have certain responsibilities towards their residents and the community. What effect will this have on those responsibilities?.
This is a familiar theme for the Árborg Municipality, as it was not long ago that layoffs of cleaning staff were supposed to significantly streamline operations. The trade unions express their concern that this will primarily affect
- Women
- Low-income groups
- Clients
- Service in general
This is a cold farewell from the city council and, to say the least, a contempt for the work of these groups who have worked wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, it seems an old truth is being realized once again: to fire those with the lowest salaries when funds need to be saved, while sparing those with the highest. The associations call on the city council to find other ways to make cuts and to reverse the layoffs of the aforementioned groups. The image of the Árborg Municipality has been tarnished.
It can be concluded that it is good to live in Árborg as long as you do not need the services of the municipality.
