When you are hired for a job, it is important to have a written employment contract at the beginning. The employment contract must include the following items, among others: name of the employee and the employer, place of work, type of position or a brief description of the job, first day of employment, duration of the employment if it is fixed-term, notice period, monthly or weekly salary, length of the workday, pension fund, and a reference to the collective bargaining agreement.
If the duration of employment is not specified, the employment is considered indefinite, meaning it is not determined when the employment will end. If an employment is indefinite, the employer cannot terminate your employment without providing you with the notice period to which you are entitled under the collective bargaining agreement.
Remember to get everything in writing with your employer, both when you are hired for a job and when changes are made to your employment terms.
